The last week was a nice and busy birthday week over at our house! Another year down and looking forward to my 31st year. I love having my birthday the day before Valentine’s Day – it makes the entire week feel really special. The day of my birthday we got Jersey Mike’s subs and didn’t do much since it was a work night, but still special. It was so weird working at Boeing during the day, no one at work even knew it was my birthday – kind of made me sad and a little anti-climactic, but it was just fine and I made it through the day. I had so many wonderful birthday wishes from family and friends that it made up for it and I felt very loved. Jeff and I also had plans to celebrate over the weekend which I was excited about.

Valentine’s Day was another yummy take-out dinner after a long day of work – Jeff picked up Thai from Benjarong Thai and it was amazing! Again, we just relaxed and watched TV together and played with Livie and exchanged little gifts and cards all together. My two Valentines are the best and we are so fortunate to have each other. Love my little family.

I probably had one of the best weekends in a long time this past weekend, with no specific set plans (unfortunately this is rare – need to make a point of changing that!). Our originals plans fell through for Saturday so we did an impromptu furniture shopping outing and Friday night we relaxed at home together and watched my favorite DVRed shows (still pulling the b-day card and I got to pick what we watched ).
Saturday was awesome. I love furniture shopping – I don’t get to do it very often, but when I do I have a great time looking at everything and picking out what works for us. Saturday morning we ventured over to The Old Cannery in Sumner and found the perfect dining room set for us. I have wanted a real dining room set
forever ever since we moved into our house three years ago. We used our breakfast nook table as a filler because we didn’t want to spend the money, but the time had finally come to bite the bullet and get one.
We spent the afternoon putting everything together and we both love it. It was well worth the wait and looking around for so long. It is like it was made for the room and it looks complete. Now we just need to have time to make a nice dinner and eat at it – ha-ha, we have been very busy with a new house project (details below). I am so happy that the furniture works so well. Now we need to paint the room and adjacent walls and that area will be finished. Our goal is to have it painted by late April. I look forward to having many family dinners and holiday dinners at our table in the years to come as our family grows. It makes my heart happy!
Saturday night the three of us went out to dinner at the Outback; we had a gift card. It is a great place to take kids though – it is loud, they have games on the tablemates/small computers at each table and crayons to color. Liv was pretty content for the most part playing and enjoyed her kids meal too!
After dinner we enjoyed some frozen yogurt from Yogurt Land. I love frozen yogurt and am so glad that they are finally in the Northwest. For so long, I could only enjoy it down south visiting family in California. I am looking forward to having it every day in the desert soon though, daily treat!
Love going out to dinner with these two
Sunday Liv enjoyed an afternoon with Grandma and Grandpa Petersen while we got a jump-start on our new house project, kitchen cabinet makeover. We are painting our kitchen cabinets white, adding new bronze hardware and fixtures. We started by taking out all of the contents of the cabinets/drawers and storing everything in the office, but keeping what we use daily in the kitchen area. Jeff took off all of the hinges and cabinets, drawers, labeled everything and bagged up all of the hardware so it all makes sense when we put it back together. It was a great start and took most of the day. We were pooped when we were finished so pizza was in order. Sorry for the lengthy babble . The cabinet project is daunting and a process, but it should be well worth all of our hard work. It will probably take about three to four weeks to complete.
This is really happening – yikes
It is Wednesday night and we are just about done with our first round of sanding, the priming is up next, then more sanding, priming…lather, rinse repeat
Relaxed and productive weekend! I hope everyone had a great weekend and Valentine’s Day!
