Our baby GIRL is 20 weeks along this week which means I am half way through this pregnancy! I thought I would check in and post at the half-way mark. It will be nice to look back and see what was going on this time around. Exciting stuff going on this week at the Petersen household – we found out on Tuesday that we are having a baby girl and everything looks healthy and right on for the January 22nd due date. Baby girl is 74 percentile in size for baby girls at this stage and everything is measuring great.
The baby is the size of small cantaloupe this week and is getting big and I can feel it. I started to feel movement at 18 weeks and things have really been ramping up since two Sundays ago. We have another busy little baby in there and I thought Livie was a mover! I love it so much and it makes getting through meetings and the work day that much more enjoyable getting little kicks reminding me that she is there.
We are really excited to be having another girl – watching sisters grow up together and be best buddies will be amazing to see. I am sure there will be hard times here and there, but worth it! I am looking forward to having a relationship similar to what my mom and I have with these two little beauties and I could not be happier and more excited to have two girls to share the rest of my life with on this journey and watch them grow up, get married (paying for two wedding…yikes – we need to start saving now!) and everything else that having girls entails. Also, pretty sweet to not have to buy a closet of boy clothes makes my life SO much easier this time around. Tons of Livie’s clothes, especially when she was itty bitty, are in excellent condition. I actually started hanging up some of the clothes in baby girl’s room last night and it felt really good.
Several weeks ago we painted the new nursery a really light gray and I love the way it turned out. We ended up painting the new downstairs play room the same color and I could not be happier with how it turned out – we went with Sherman Williams Repose Gray. Anyways, the room is ready to be all put together and I am so excited! We are doing purple / lavender bedding from Pottery Barn Kids with turquoise and white accents. Livie’s room is light pink and green so I wanted the girls to have different color schemes. We’ll be doing the white furniture again since we like it so much in Liv’s room and I think it just fits a girl’s room so well.
Olivia knows that there is a baby sister in my tummy, but she also thinks she has a baby in her tummy too it is pretty funny. Such a sweet little girl who will be a wonderful big sister. She loves babies so I think she will think it is pretty special that she has “her very own baby” or so she will think I am sure. She loves to help me with things around the house and I know she will be a great helper with the baby.
I have been feeling pretty good, besides feeling heavier with the protruding tummy and still being really tired. No real nausea to report for some time now. I just can get really full fast and feel sick like I am going to pop sometimes – oh the joys of pregnancy, but I love it and wouldn’t trade it for the world. I love being pregnant and have been enjoying it this time around as much as with our first.
We have baby girl’s name picked out too and have for some time. Jeff and I have such a hard time with deciding on girl names so when we actually agree, which has happened twice with Olivia and this time with baby girl’s name we just go with it – who knows if we have a third baby girl what the heck we will do! I am not one to keep it a secret either, I like to share it and call her by name in my tummy as I like to feel that connection with her…so baby girl’s name is Leigh Stella Petersen! We love the name Leigh and Stella is my great aunt’s name that I have always really liked. We are already so in love with our little girl and can hardly wait to meet her in January!!!!
