I am having a hard time grasping the fact that it is just about mid-October already and in three months we will be meeting our new baby girl and be a family of four. September flew by – here is a recap of the month since I was a bad blogger and didn’t write posts for most things we did in the month.
We enjoyed the season opener at Husky stadium as season ticket holders! We were last year too, but not as cool in Century Link’s stadium. We were pumped to be back in the beautiful new stadium. The game was technically on August 31st, but so close to September that I am adding in here. It was the perfect day, the perfect game against Boise and we love our seats. They are located on the water side, 4 rows up on the 9 yard line. We arranged our seats next to the Colburns and we are having so much fun this season tailgating and attending games with them, as always. Here are a few pictures from the season opener along with some fun photos from the away game against Illinois on the 14th.
The weekend after the husky opener we went over to Lake Chelan to enjoy a weekend away with good friends and stayed at the Colburn’s family cabin on the lake. We always look forward to this weekend with them! We had a great time with everyone wine tasting, trip to the casino, relaxing and the boys got to golf. We had a blast!
We also had a couple of weekends where we got to do a little shopping and get nursery items for baby girl too. We had a fun outing to U-Village with Grandma Havens on one of the gorgeous fall days and enjoyed shopping and getting the nursery bedding. We also made a trip to Babies R Us to get some other room items. The room is coming together and Jeff has been a great help. I am in love with the bedding. The crib has been ordered and should come in a week or so, we have a small table to put in the room next to the chair and some white shelves to hang and then just the finishing decorations which will come in the next few months.
The last weekend in September was spent in Chelan again, this time we enjoyed four days at Wapato Point with Jeff’s family. This was Olivia’s first time going to Wapato – she had been to Chelan on the Colburn’s trip the year before, but she was in my tummy the last Wapato Point trip. She loved feeding the ducks, swinging, sliding down the slide and going swimming with Dad and Grandpa along with going on nice morning walks with us. She had so much fun and loved spending time with Uncle Troy, Aunt Jamie, Papa and Grandma. She also had a great time celebrating Papa’s birthday and helping him blow out his candles and open his gifts. It was just nice to get more than a weekend with her – I sure did miss her on that Monday back to work.
Olivia also started a six-week swim lesson series at Tahoma High School right by our house. She has been doing great and gets so excited about going to the lessons every week. She is definitely more comfortable in the water, spits the water out automatically now, floats on her back, kicks great and loves to jump in with dad’s assistance. It has been really fun to watch her progress each week and see how much she enjoys it – she seriously does not stop smiling the entire time!
She also got her first haircut, actually it was more like a first trim, but it still counts. With her hair being curly we could hide the unevenness for a while, but all of a sudden the long part in the back curl piece hung lower than the rest and resembled a rat-tail! We needed to take care of that so when my mom came up one of the weeks in late September we did a little snip-snip after dinner and the tail was gone! She is so cute and I absolutely am obsessed with her curly, blond hair which is getting so long and fun to put up in a pony or pig tails. When it is wet you can really see how long it is – goes past her shoulders. It will be interesting to see how her hair color will change as she gets older and the curl. I did save the little blond curl in a zip-lock in her baby book to look back on and compare.
We hope everyone is enjoying fall and had a great month of September! We are looking forward to a busy upcoming weekend, the UW vs. Oregon game, dinner at Jak’s for Jeff’s birthday, family photos in Kirkland and lunch in Bellevue with Aunt Barb on Sunday. Lots to look forward to!
